Troubleshooting: Why Your NFC Tag Isn't Scanning (And How to Fix It)
You hand your beautiful TapMo Card to someone, they tap it... and nothing happens. Awkward, right? 99% of the time, the card isn't broken - it’s just user error. Here is how to troubleshoot the "failed tap" like a pro, so you never have an awkward moment again.
Issue 1: The "Sweet Spot" (Where to Tap)
Smartphones have NFC readers in different spots. If you tap in the wrong place, it won't work.
- iPhone: The reader is at the very top edge (near the selfie camera). Hold the card there.

- Android: The reader is usually in the center back of the phone.

- Pro Tip: Don't wave the card. Hold it steady against the phone for 1 full second.
Issue 2: The Phone is Locked
Most phones will not read an NFC tag if the screen is black/locked (for security reasons).
-
Fix: Ask them to "wake up" or unlock their phone screen before you tap.
Issue 3: NFC is Turned Off (Android Only)
iPhones have NFC always on. But some Android users might have it turned off to save battery.
-
Fix: If the tap fails, flip the card over and ask them to scan the QR code instead. It’s the perfect backup plan.
Technology isn't magic; it’s mechanics. Knowing where to tap makes you look like the expert in the room.
