Master the "Sweet Spot": Finding the NFC Reader on Any Android

If you’re an Android user, you know that "one size does not fit all." While Apple keeps its NFC reader strictly at the top, Android brands like Samsung, Google, OnePlus, and Xiaomi place their sensors wherever they fit best within the hardware.

To ensure your TapMo Metal Card works on the first try, every time, you need to master the "Android Slide." Here is your brand-by-brand guide to finding the sweet spot.

1. First Things First: Is NFC On?

Unlike iPhones, Androids allow you to turn the NFC antenna off to save battery. If it's off, the "magic" won't happen.

• The Quick Fix: Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings menu. Look for the NFC icon and ensure it is highlighted.
• Pro Tip: If you don't see it, go to Settings > Connected Devices > Connection Preferences and toggle NFC to ON.

2. Finding the Sensor by Brand

Since the NFC antenna is hidden under the back panel, here is where most major brands hide theirs:

• Samsung Galaxy Series: Typically located in the very center of the back. On newer "Ultra" models, it may be slightly higher, just below the camera module.
• Google Pixel: Usually located in the center-back, often right where the "G" logo is placed.
• OnePlus & Oppo: These are often found near the top-back, very close to the camera assembly (similar to an iPhone).
• Xiaomi & Vivo: Generally found in the upper-middle section of the back panel.

3. The "Slow Slide" Technique

When you’re meeting someone with a phone you don’t recognize, don’t guess. Use the Slow Slide:

• Unlock the phone.
• Hold your TapMo card by the edges (keeping the Square Chip facing the phone).
• Start at the center of the phone's back and slide it slowly toward the top.
• Once the phone vibrates or opens a link, you’ve found the spot!

4. Case Sensitivity

Android users love their rugged cases. While the TapMo Smart Chip is powerful enough to read through most standard silicone and leather cases, extremely thick "Armor" cases or cases with metal plates (for magnetic car mounts) can block the signal.

• The Fix: If it doesn't read, try tapping closer to the camera lens area where the casing is often thinner, or use the QR Code on the back of your card.
