Networking Etiquette 2026: When to Tap and When to Scan
Technology changes fast, but manners change slowly. Using a TapMo Card is impressive, but only if you do it right. Shoving a card in someone's face is rude in any era. Here is the 2026 Guide to Networking Etiquette.
Rule 1: Ask for Permission
Never just reach out and tap someone's phone without warning. It feels invasive.
- The Script: "Can I tap my card on your phone to share my details?" or "Do you have NFC on? I can drop my contact info instantly."
- This prepares them and ensures their phone is unlocked and ready.

Rule 2: Respect the "Old School"
If you meet a senior executive who reaches for a paper card and looks confused by your metal card, don't force the tech.
-
The Pivot: Flip your TapMo Card over and say, "You can just scan the QR code with your camera, it might be easier." Meet them where they are comfortable.
Rule 3: The "Wait and See"
After you tap, wait for the notification to pop up on their screen and point to it. "There it is - just click that." Don't touch their screen yourself unless they hand the phone to you.
Being "high-tech" doesn't mean you can be "low-manners." Use your TapMo Card to enhance the interaction, not dominate it.
